Everything guests ask before they arrive

Reservations, dress codes, dietary menus, the casino floor, parking and the bill — the questions our concierge hears most, answered honestly.

Reservations & dining

Getting a table

Reservations open six weeks out across all channels — online, phone and concierge. Friday and Saturday prime sittings typically sell inside the first week; weekday tables are usually available a day or two ahead.
We hold bookings for 15 minutes past the reserved time. Running later? A quick call to +61 3 8648 1900 keeps the table — we can almost always flex by 30 minutes.
Note your preference at booking — window row, terrace, grill counter or a quiet corner — and we'll do our best. Requests aren't guarantees, but regulars know we rarely miss.
Standard reservations cancel free of charge. Deposit-backed bookings — degustation, tastings, private rooms — refund in full to 72 hours before. Inside that window the deposit converts to a credit valid 90 days.
The bar, lounge and terrace always hold walk-in space. For the dining room on a weekend it's a gamble — worth asking, but the honest answer is book ahead.

Gaming floor questions

Dinner and the tables run under different rules — here's where they meet.

Yes — the gaming floor is 18+ and requires photo ID at the door. Passports, driver's licences and proof-of-age cards are all accepted. The restaurant itself doesn't check ID unless you're ordering alcohol.
Dining guests get priority entry through our private door onto the floor — show your reservation at the concierge and you're past the main line. Table play itself is first-come like everywhere else.
Main floor tables start at $15–$25 depending on the game and hour. The Mahogany Salon runs higher limits and works on application — details on the VIP lounge page.
Dealers run free tuition on blackjack and roulette basics every evening from 6pm — no chips, no pressure, just the rules. Ask the floor host to point you to the learner's table.
The house rules

Policies, minus the fine print

Dress code

Smart casual after 6pm in the dining room — collared shirts preferred, no singlets, thongs or work boots. The Mahogany Salon asks for smart attire. Jackets welcome, never required.

Children

Welcome in the dining room until 9pm with a dedicated family sitting at 5:30pm. The casino floor, Salon and late sittings are 18+ at all times.

Pets

Assistance animals are welcome everywhere we are. Other pets can join you on the outdoor terrace, where the team will bring a water bowl and a surprising amount of attention.

Eating your way

Dietary questions, answered

  • "Is the vegan menu an afterthought?"

No — it's a parallel degustation developed by the head chef, with the same course count and the same fire.

  • "How careful are you with coeliac?"

Dedicated prep zone and fryer, kitchen-briefed tables and a GF version of nearly every dish — tell us at booking.

  • "What about serious allergies?"

We flag the table in the pass system, the floor manager reviews every plate and the chef signs off personally.

Table chronicles

The regulars' favourite corners

"Table 12, every anniversary since 2019. The window, the ribs of beef, then a hand or two of blackjack — the night writes itself."

Greg & Maria T.

"I proposed at the Chef's Table between courses five and six. Elena sent the ring out on a plate. My wife still cries about it."

Daniel K.

"Flew in from Perth for a conference, stayed for the truffle night and ended up a member of the Salon. The house does that to you."

Sarah W.

Practical questions

8 Whiteman Street, Southbank — the restaurant entrance faces the promenade beside the river. Look for the blackwood doors, not the main casino escalators.
Trams 12, 96 and 109 stop at Clarendon Street, a four-minute walk. Flinders Street Station is ten minutes across the river. Rideshare drops directly at the Whiteman Street forecourt.
Kitchen: 11pm. Bar: 2am. Casino floor: never. If you're finishing dinner at midnight, the evening is technically still young by house standards.
Crown Towers, Crown Metropol and Crown Promenade are all within the complex — the concierge can coordinate room and table bookings together for visiting guests.
